General Qualifications as defined by the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Training Act. No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories. U.S. citizen. Must pass entry level physical fitness testing in accordance with Oklahoma Police Pension Plan and City’s requirements, pass entry officer written testing and pass an in-depth background and reference checks. Must be of good moral character and of temperate and industrious habits. Must be found, after examination by a licensed physician, to be free of any physical conditions that might adversely affect their performance as police officers which may prohibit them from successfully completing prescribed law enforcement training required by the Law Enforcement Training Act. Must be found after examination by a certified psychologist, to be free of any emotional or mental condition, which might adversely affect their performance as police officers or prohibit them from successfully completing prescribed basic law enforcement training required by the Law Enforcement Training Act and Drug Free.

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

(A)     Graduation of High School or GED, and three (3) years of stable verifiable work history,

(B)      Graduation of High School or GED with two (2) years active military duty with an Honorable Discharge.

(C)      Sixty (60) college hours from an accredited college or university with one (1) year of stable verifiable work history.

(D)     Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

                                   

 SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

(A)     Must possess a valid state issued driver's license with acceptable / insurable driving record.

(B)     Must be 21 years of age or older, and under 45 years of age at the time of employment.

(C)     Must have not been released or discharged under dishonorable conditions from any of the Armed Forces of the United States.

(D)     Ability to meet and maintain departmental physical standards.

(E)     Must be able to pass entry-level written test.

(F)      Residency Requirement: See Human Resources manual or department policy for more details.

“All who do not reside within the corporate city limits of Ardmore shall live no more than twenty (20) minutes average driving time from the Ardmore Police Department.

Those residing outside the corporate city limits of Ardmore who desire to live further that twenty (20) minutes average driving time shall submit a written request to the Chief of Police stating specific reasons for the policy waver.”

Requires a High School diploma or GED, with two (2) years of general clerical experience. Must not have ever been convicted by Federal, State, or any other Law Enforcement authorities for any violation of any Federal, State, County or Municipal Law, regulation or ordnance which may be a contraindication of a public safety position. Must pass an in-depth background and reference checks, and must be of good moral character. Prefer one (1) year experience in receiving and processing public service calls in law enforcement or fire agency. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a State Terminal Certification issued by the State of Oklahoma within six (6) months of hire date. Knowledge to operate computer aided dispatch 9-1-1 systems. Receive emergency service calls from the public requesting law enforcement, fir ambulance or other emergency service. Knowledge of basic office procedures, methods and computer equipment, general law enforcement codes, practice and methods, knowledge of basic principles and procedures of record keeping. Ability to perform routine clerical duties, type accurately at a speed necessary for successful job performance, communicate verbally and in writing, to handle stressful situations, to work various rotating shifts, sitting extended periods of time, and subject to call ins. Work closely with others in an office environment, sustained posture and intense attentiveness for prolonged periods, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and to follow all policy and procedures of the Department and the City.

REQUIRED:

 **All applicants must perform a data entry examination with the Oklahoma Workforce Commission; (walk-ins are welcomed) located at 201 A Street Southwest, Ardmore, Oklahoma. This agency will test you on your data entry and occupational skills. These tests include the 10-key data entry, and word per minute typing test. The preferred data entry score is 40 words per minute or greater, however, if you do not achieve this score, you have not failed the test. The test score sheets must be included with a completed application.

The City of Ardmore is looking for an individual with experience in grant writing and administration.

 

YOU WILL NEED:

Education and/or Experience: Five (5) years office/clerical experience.  Prefer three years grant writing experience as well as accounting experience: Prefer two year Technical or Associate’s Degree with emphasis in grant writing.

 

Qualifications: Candidate must have exceptional clerical and accounting skills, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate at all levels, assertive, excellent time management and follow up skills, attentive to details, and accuracy.  This position will be responsible for all phases of contracts and grants administration.

 

Duties include:

  • Facilitating timely and accurate preparation and submission of high quality grant applications and proposals.
  • Identifying and pursuing funding opportunities.
  • Managing grant award terms, conditions and deliverables, and resolve funding partner issues while meeting federal, state and funding partner’s audits and grant reporting requirements.
  • Monitoring monthly expenditures and work cooperatively with program personnel to ensure service providers are complying with budget/contract performance requirements.
  • Attending Public Hearings, bid openings, pre-bid conferences, pre-construction meetings and all other meetings as required.
